Read this before quoting us
Everything published here is written to help you evaluate, and every figure still has to be checked against your own engagement.
Archive hardware changes revision, firmware and regional availability faster than any website is updated. This page explains what our published material is worth and where it stops.
Where we do not have a verified fact, we write around it rather than filling the gap with a plausible number.
This site exists so a technical evaluator can decide, before speaking to anyone, whether our approach to archive and retention infrastructure deserves an hour of their time. That purpose sets the boundary of what the content can carry. Pages describe how technologies behave in general terms, not how one particular configuration will behave in your data centre, under your workload, with your existing software attached to it. Where a number or an interface genuinely matters to a purchasing decision, treat the published version as the opening of a conversation and ask us to confirm it against your requirement.
Scope of information on this site
Nothing on abansmart.ae is a quotation, a tender response, or acceptance of an order. Reading a page, opening a linked document or sending an enquiry does not put a contract in place between you and Aban Smart. A binding arrangement exists only when both parties have signed one.
The material is not professional advice either. We describe how retention rules and immutability mechanisms work because buyers ask, not because we are qualified to tell you what your regulator, auditor or insurer will accept. Judgements about statutory obligations, evidential weight or capital expenditure belong with your own advisers.
Last reviewed: 9 August 2026. This page is a working template. Aban Smart's legal advisers have not yet reviewed the wording, and it is published as a statement of intent rather than as advice you should act on.
Product specifications and availability
Capacities, throughput ranges, supported interfaces, media generations, firmware compatibility, certifications, warranty terms and support response scope all vary by model, revision, region and contract, and they change without anyone notifying us. Anything of that kind stated here is indicative. It is re-verified for each engagement before it reaches a proposal.
Availability is a separate question from capability. A product listed in a manufacturer's catalogue may carry a lead time, a minimum order quantity, a regional restriction, or a successor model that changes the recommendation entirely. Current status is confirmed at the point of quoting, and we say so plainly when we cannot confirm it.
Some pages carry worked sizing examples. Those are labelled as illustrations where they appear. They are arithmetic rather than measured results from a live site, and they are not a basis for a budget.
Manufacturer documents and legacy material
Datasheets and technical documents reachable from this site were produced by QStar, INCOM/StorEasy and DISC. Copyright in them, and responsibility for their accuracy, stays with those manufacturers. We host copies so they are easy to read during an evaluation, and we do not edit their contents.
Several of them are old. The DISC optical material in particular is largely legacy documentation, describing hardware generations and part numbers that may no longer ship. It remains useful for understanding how a technology was designed and why. It is not a current product catalogue and should not be read as one.
References to other organisations
Where a third party is named anywhere on this site, including the Nottingham City Transport onboard video deployment, that reference was published by the manufacturer concerned. It is a manufacturer's reference and not an Aban Smart customer, and we do not dress it up as one.
Naming an organisation, a standard or a platform implies no endorsement in either direction. It does not mean that party has read our pages, approved our descriptions, or holds any commercial relationship with us. Trade names and trademarks identify their owners' products and are used for identification only. The technology partners page sets out which relationships actually exist, and our terms of use covers ownership of the material itself.
If something published here is load-bearing for a decision you are about to take, contact us and ask for it in writing, or request an assessment so the answer is scoped to your estate rather than to a general case.
Frequently asked questions
Not safely. Published capacities are indicative and depend on model, media generation, formatting overhead and the configuration finally chosen. Ask us to confirm the number against your workload, and we will state it in writing with the assumptions attached. A figure with its assumptions visible survives scrutiny; a figure lifted from a web page usually does not.
